Week One

I am going to try again and do the Project 365. I may not always take the picture on the exact day and that's ok. My feeling about this is that I want to look back at the end of the year and see how and what we did. So, here's week one.

100 Mile Fitness Challenge

I feel like Ophra, "how did I let this happen again". I can possibly count the times I've lost the same 20 pounds over and over again. But, it is a new year, new goals to get and stay healthy and some new vacation plans.

My good friend La has posted a 100 mile fitness challenge to get us moving this year. She has worked really hard this past year with her fitness goal and just moving towards a more healthy, active lifestyle. True inspiration. Speaking of inspiration, I have someone very close to me who has done an incredible job in the weight loss area also, my big sis. I am so proud of her sticking with it for so long. She looks awesome!!

So, I've signed up for the challenge. I will be alternating between walking and workout videos. Check out the link and come sign up with me. I will be posting my countdown to meet my 100 miles on Saturdays!! Wish me luck!!

Taco Tuesday

Where did the phrase "Taco Tuesday" originate from?? I'm not sure but around this house it has helped me to figure out what to make for dinner on Tuesdays. The guys like them, they are easy enough to make and I can make different types, although chicken is our favorite.

Now if I can only figure out what is for dinner on Wednesday or Thursday, or Friday, etc, etc... I really do like to cook but I suppose I would enjoy it even more if the male folk in my house would be more open to try new things. I'm definitely living in a meat and potatoes house and let's not forget the Dr., Dr. P that is.

I love cookbooks and am hoping to find some new ideas of things to try this year. I've already put everyone on notice that this will be the year for change, trying new things and broadening the menu. We'll see how that goes. I did just get the cookbook from the Pioneer Woman, found here http://thepioneerwoman.com/ . Seems like the guys kind of cooking. Until then, let me know if you have any for sure recipes that the 9yr old will eat as well as the fifty something yr old :) But for now, the making of the taco tuesday..

Happy 2010!!

Happy New Year! Wishing you all a fabulous 2010.

Along with a new year comes those new goals, new resolutions, new priorities and a new start to this blog. It's been ages since I posted anything and yet so many things have happened in the last six months. I now have an 11 yr old, a 9 yr old and a one year old puppy. Not to mention I have aged a yr too, but we won't post that.

I'm going to try keeping this blog updated again as I realized time just goes by to quickly and and I miss documenting those important things we do together. I'm going to tackle the 365 photo a day project again too. So far so good. I don't know if I'll post each picture or just the finished one week layout/recap. We'll see how it goes.

It's been great being home with the boys these last two weeks but staying up way too late and sleeping in way too long was good for a while but it's time to get back to our regular routines. We've been having a movie fest and a game fest. It has all been good..

Christmas tree and decorations have all been put away until next December. Now it is on to baseball. Both boys will be moving up to the next level so it should be another exciting year.

New Year's day the boys and I went to my parents and played games. This is exactly how I remember my days at home. The boys learned how to play Mexican Train dominos and Tripoly.

Be A Wall

Let it be known that I have blogged twice in one day. How am I doing, sister?

This was a daily challenge from http://www.jessicasprague.com/ for their 2nd birthday. I loved the template and this picture of E. Here's my layout ;)

Another one Won

Yesterday the PCL Angels won their third TOC game. They are in the finals now. They will be playing the winner of the second quarter final game being played tonight. We are so proud of these boys. They played a great team yesterday who had great hitting and awesome fielding but our boys hung in there and won 6 - 3.

We only used our first two pitchers too, so Ryan didn't even need to come in and close out. He made two awesome catches one giving us a double play which ended the game. He took what his Nino told him to heart, and played a great game.

I haven't taken my camera to the last two games, so I am so thankful for camera phones and good friends who totally get the proud Mom momments.

It's Time for Summer

Yesterday was the boys last day of school. This just seemed like an extra long year, maybe it had to do with the fact that the homework was a little more challenging for Ry this year. I found myself looking up "rotational symmetry" on the internet among other things. But the boys did really well in their subjects this year so that is all that counts.
Now on to the fun. It just wouldn't be summer with out a slip n slide. The box said "huge 16ft slide". The boys opened it up and said "this doesn't look so huge", lol!! It did look a little on the short side to me. I remember them fitting the whole length of my parents bottom half on the lawn. Either that or I was just a lot smaller.

Let's here it for the Champions!

After a long season and a final record of 18-3-1, Ry's team just clinched the TC City Championship with a 8-6 win. Ry closed up the game with a total of 76 pitches. He made some awesome plays working with the catcher to get those outs at home plate.

This is his third league win and city championship. There's nothing like a three-peat!!

Nothing like going out in style. First the party poppers, then came the silly string.

One thing I noticed is he's a bit mellow right after a big win, he says that's just the way he likes to celebrate. We are just very proud of him and the awesome job his team has done this year. This is right after pitching the final strike!

Getting their medals.
oh, hang on E, don't lets those balloons carry you away.

The season is winding down

It's almost over. E just played his last regular season game today and Ry will be done tomorrow evening. Many hours of practice, games, keeping score in the scorebooth, maning the snack bar and it is all worth it. The boys both enjoyed playing this year.

Ry's team won the league championship at our park after winning Wednesdays game. They will play the winner from the North in a game on 5/11 to determine the city champion. This is Ry's third championship win. He's been fortunate to be on well playing teams they last few years.

The game on Wednesday was of course a nail biter. Watching Ry pitch always makes me nervous. But he did his job and finished out the game with the final out, tagging a runner at second.

We can now breathe a little in tomorrow's game so it should be a good one.

A picture after Wednesday's win.

And one of E pitching. Love the little tongue coming out the side.

Bailey in Action

After much thought and discussion we have finally settled on a name. Bailey. It suits her too.

It's been over three weeks now since Bailey moved in. I think we have a routine down but still working hard on the house training. She is a lot of fun though and loves to cuddle right up to you, even when you are trying to sleep.

She loves playing in the front yard and is quite the soccer player already. However, she does alternate between chewing on the ball and chewing on your foot while you are trying to kick the ball ;)

Baseball season is here again. Opening day for the boys is this Saturday. Bailey will have to fight for blog space now along with the photos of the boys ;)

Our newest addition

Meet ??? Actually we don't have a name for her yet. I think this is even harder than naming a child since there are more people who have an opinion these days ;). The boys have been begging for dog, they love when their sister comes by and brings Amber to play with. After MUCH discussion we have decided that they are old enough and 'hopefully' responsible enough to train and take care of her.

She will come home to us on Friday Feb 13th. They boys are off of school and it is a long weekend so we will have plenty of time to get aquainted with our new puppy. Isn't she just too cute? Remind me of that when she starts to chew on my furniture!

Going to Tea

Who says you're too old for a tea party? Yesterday I was invited to tea at my SIL's house. Every so often we get together and do a sisters day. It was a dress up occasion along with hats and boas. A large variety of tea sandwiches, teas and desserts. Miss Nessie May really outdid herself getting the place ready.

The table was beautifully decorated, place cards with our names on it and we all got to chose our tea and very own tea pot. I am so blessed to have such wonderful SILs and MIL and a very special friend Diane. Thank you all for a wonderful evening.

Our newest family member

Thank heavens for little boys. Our newest little great nephew Baby D was born Friday January 16th at 8:12 am. We went to visit him on Saturday and he is just so precious. I forgot how little they are when they are only days old but then my little guys weren't so little when they were born.
He slept the whole time we were there. I just wanted to take him home with me. I even asked if I could ;) but was quickly reminded that I wouldn't get too far because he had lojack on his ankle. Congratulations J&G on the new addition to your family.

The art of clipping coupons

Do you clip and use coupons? I just clip them, LOL!! I don't know why I bother to spend my time doing this because I usually do one of three things..

1. I forget to bring the coupons with me to the store
2. I bring the coupons I'm going to use with me to the store and then I forget to give them to the cashier
3. I bring them to the store and I somehow manage to lose them in the store

The only coupons I manage to use on a regular basis are the 40% off Michael's coupons. I wonder if that means something??

The Tooth Fairy

That day has finally arrived when Ry finally figured it all out. It all started when we had the Santa discussion before Christmas, he was a little let down to know it was me all the time. Well, Sunday night he pulled out a tooth that was loose. It happened so early in the day that I didn't even think twice about it. So today when we get home from school he shows me the baggie with his tooth in it and we have this conversation

Ry: I can't believe that the Tooth Fairy didn't see my tooth for the third time. Sunday, it fell on the floor, Monday it was stuck too far under the pillow and last night it was right there.

Me: I'm sure she just got behind schedule, why don't you try it again.

Ry: (looking at me funny) Awe man, you're the Tooth Fairy, huh?

Me: Yeah, sorry buddy.

Ry: Don't tell me you're the Easter Bunny too?

We both laughed. I guess it was just that time for him to know. E man is still in the dark, so we'll see how long that lasts.

It's almost over

Ugh, two weeks off on vacation and it is almost over. I feel like I didn't even get any thing accomplished but the boys and I did manage to see a few movies, play a few games, do some errands and best of all we all got to sleep in. It's going to be tough tomorrow trying to get up early. This cold is still hanging on a little bit so hopefully it won't be dragging me down tomorrow.

New Year's Eve 2008

Can it really be nearly a year since I last posted on my blog? I had such big hopes of documenting all those daily doses of memories and making one of those blurb books that will sit on my coffee table to look back over the year. Well, I can't very well make a book with only one post and to be honest we don't even have a coffee table. So I guess that solves that problem.

I'm sitting here watching Rockin Eve 2008 while the boys are watching the Disney Channel countdown. I remember when I was a teenager and watching Rockin Eve 1979. Could that really be 30 years ago? Some things never change and some things never stay the same. I wishing for a little of both in 2009. Along with those New Year's resolutions that I will make and stick to for, oh about 2 - 3 weeks, I'm hoping to make some changes in what I do and how I do it. Time goes way to quickly to not make the most of it. So with that, I wish you all a wonderful 2009. I wish you all health, happiness and a little something special, whatever your wish may be.

BAKERSFIELD

After much procrastinating I finally decided to take my computer in for a check up. It hasn't been running it's best for a few months now and my warranty is up next week. This is a hard thing for me to do since I use my computer ALOT so this morning I decided it was time. I unplugged all 50 (ok maybe there's not that many) cords and was on my way.

Who knew that CompUSA is now CLOSED!! OMG, I couldn't believe it. I called the CS number on my receipt and followed the prompts to find the nearest store. Yup, you guessed it Bakersfield!! NOT! I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that this holds up a while longer and keep backing up my files.

2007 is almost over

I can't tell you how many times I have said or heard someone say that we can't believe how fast time flies. In less than 30 minutes (by my clock) we will be saying goodbye to 2007 and welcoming 2008!! It just seems like yesterday that everyone was worried about Y2K and what was going to happen to all the computer type systems. Can that have really been 8 years ago?

We are staying in tonight. The boys are still up watching Disney channel and we just finished watching The Bourne Ultimatum. Just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a very Happy New Year. Go Trojans!!!

Merry Christmas to all..

How quickly Christmas Eve and Christmas Day pass. I think I managed to enjoy it a bit more this year since I was able to get an early start on my shopping and wrapping. A good thing for me but torturous for the boys. Seeing those presents under the tree for over a week was making them crazy.

We had a really nice Christmas Eve celebration with my family and then enjoyed Christmas Day with Dh's family. We played a really fun game involving a gift exchange that had everyone laughing and holding on to those Starbucks card. Who would have ever figured that coffee would be such a big thing.

The boys were spoiled yet again this year. Their big gift from Santa was their Wii game. As you can see from the excited hug they gave one another when they opened it, they were thrilled with that. It has been fun playing and "E" has managed to beat everyone at bowling everytime. I even made him switch controllers with me because I thought it was just luck. He says he is Grandpa's twin when it comes to bowling.

Hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas as well. Now off to ice my shoulder. We have a bowling rematch coming up shortly.
