Taco Tuesday

Where did the phrase "Taco Tuesday" originate from?? I'm not sure but around this house it has helped me to figure out what to make for dinner on Tuesdays. The guys like them, they are easy enough to make and I can make different types, although chicken is our favorite.

Now if I can only figure out what is for dinner on Wednesday or Thursday, or Friday, etc, etc... I really do like to cook but I suppose I would enjoy it even more if the male folk in my house would be more open to try new things. I'm definitely living in a meat and potatoes house and let's not forget the Dr., Dr. P that is.

I love cookbooks and am hoping to find some new ideas of things to try this year. I've already put everyone on notice that this will be the year for change, trying new things and broadening the menu. We'll see how that goes. I did just get the cookbook from the Pioneer Woman, found here http://thepioneerwoman.com/ . Seems like the guys kind of cooking. Until then, let me know if you have any for sure recipes that the 9yr old will eat as well as the fifty something yr old :) But for now, the making of the taco tuesday..

Happy 2010!!

Happy New Year! Wishing you all a fabulous 2010.

Along with a new year comes those new goals, new resolutions, new priorities and a new start to this blog. It's been ages since I posted anything and yet so many things have happened in the last six months. I now have an 11 yr old, a 9 yr old and a one year old puppy. Not to mention I have aged a yr too, but we won't post that.

I'm going to try keeping this blog updated again as I realized time just goes by to quickly and and I miss documenting those important things we do together. I'm going to tackle the 365 photo a day project again too. So far so good. I don't know if I'll post each picture or just the finished one week layout/recap. We'll see how it goes.

It's been great being home with the boys these last two weeks but staying up way too late and sleeping in way too long was good for a while but it's time to get back to our regular routines. We've been having a movie fest and a game fest. It has all been good..

Christmas tree and decorations have all been put away until next December. Now it is on to baseball. Both boys will be moving up to the next level so it should be another exciting year.

New Year's day the boys and I went to my parents and played games. This is exactly how I remember my days at home. The boys learned how to play Mexican Train dominos and Tripoly.

Be A Wall

Let it be known that I have blogged twice in one day. How am I doing, sister?

This was a daily challenge from http://www.jessicasprague.com/ for their 2nd birthday. I loved the template and this picture of E. Here's my layout ;)

Another one Won

Yesterday the PCL Angels won their third TOC game. They are in the finals now. They will be playing the winner of the second quarter final game being played tonight. We are so proud of these boys. They played a great team yesterday who had great hitting and awesome fielding but our boys hung in there and won 6 - 3.

We only used our first two pitchers too, so Ryan didn't even need to come in and close out. He made two awesome catches one giving us a double play which ended the game. He took what his Nino told him to heart, and played a great game.

I haven't taken my camera to the last two games, so I am so thankful for camera phones and good friends who totally get the proud Mom momments.

It's Time for Summer

Yesterday was the boys last day of school. This just seemed like an extra long year, maybe it had to do with the fact that the homework was a little more challenging for Ry this year. I found myself looking up "rotational symmetry" on the internet among other things. But the boys did really well in their subjects this year so that is all that counts.
Now on to the fun. It just wouldn't be summer with out a slip n slide. The box said "huge 16ft slide". The boys opened it up and said "this doesn't look so huge", lol!! It did look a little on the short side to me. I remember them fitting the whole length of my parents bottom half on the lawn. Either that or I was just a lot smaller.

Let's here it for the Champions!

After a long season and a final record of 18-3-1, Ry's team just clinched the TC City Championship with a 8-6 win. Ry closed up the game with a total of 76 pitches. He made some awesome plays working with the catcher to get those outs at home plate.

This is his third league win and city championship. There's nothing like a three-peat!!

Nothing like going out in style. First the party poppers, then came the silly string.

One thing I noticed is he's a bit mellow right after a big win, he says that's just the way he likes to celebrate. We are just very proud of him and the awesome job his team has done this year. This is right after pitching the final strike!

Getting their medals.
oh, hang on E, don't lets those balloons carry you away.

The season is winding down

It's almost over. E just played his last regular season game today and Ry will be done tomorrow evening. Many hours of practice, games, keeping score in the scorebooth, maning the snack bar and it is all worth it. The boys both enjoyed playing this year.

Ry's team won the league championship at our park after winning Wednesdays game. They will play the winner from the North in a game on 5/11 to determine the city champion. This is Ry's third championship win. He's been fortunate to be on well playing teams they last few years.

The game on Wednesday was of course a nail biter. Watching Ry pitch always makes me nervous. But he did his job and finished out the game with the final out, tagging a runner at second.

We can now breathe a little in tomorrow's game so it should be a good one.

A picture after Wednesday's win.

And one of E pitching. Love the little tongue coming out the side.
